'Message in a Bottle' Emergency Info
27 June 2019
Lions Club initiative supported by GP's & Pharmacies

What a great idea from the Lions Club! Special stickers, inside a person's house and on their fridge, to alert emergency services personnel that vital health information is stored in a plastic bottle in the fridge. This can save valuable time for people suffering from conditions such as diabetes, allergies, disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.
The Message in a Bottle kit includes a form, where personal and medical information is detailed. This is placed in the distinctive bottle which is stored in the fridge. Paramedics, police, fire-fighters and social services support this Lions life-saving initiative and know to look in the fridge when they see the Message in a Bottle stickers.
The bottles are provided free of charge by Lions clubs in their local communities thanks to generous donations from the public and businesses. Many health centres and chemists promote the scheme by displaying the kits for members of the public to take away.
Quantities of bottles can be ordered by Lions clubs and other organisations using the Message in a Bottle order form available on the club's website http://lionsclubs.co/MemberArea/message-in-a-bottle/

Here we are – it's definitely winter and we are experiencing on and off freezing conditions. Typical British weather – damp and drizzly one day and hard frosts or snow the next. There are many things we can do to stay warm and well but this can be much harder for older and vulnerable people so they may need some help.
