Sunflower Lanyard Scheme for People With Hidden Disabilities

A special assistance scheme to help people with hidden disabilities is being made more widely available.
The Sunflower Lanyard scheme, first introduced by Gatwick Airport, has been adopted by many other airports and is being trialled in 37 Sainsbury's supermarkets. The scheme helps those with a number of disabilities, such as autism, dementia, visual or hearing impairment. The lanyards can be collected from the Special Assistance Desk at airports and Customer Service Desk in participating Sainsbury's stores. The lanyard alerts staff that the person may need a little more time with certain tasks or be dealt with in a calm manner.

Here we are – it's definitely winter and we are experiencing on and off freezing conditions. Typical British weather – damp and drizzly one day and hard frosts or snow the next. There are many things we can do to stay warm and well but this can be much harder for older and vulnerable people so they may need some help.
